謝國清表示，20年前一群家長組織起來，希望能減輕孩子的升學負擔，要求政府推動十二年國教。當初的許多理想，現在仍沒有實現，因此他們覺得是時候重新出發，邀請新的家長一起加入。
台家盟的目標包括強調孩子的獨特性、適性發展，並希望家長扮演身教角色，共同推進改革的腳步，「唯有不斷學習、進步的父母，方能承擔愛孩子的責任。」
今天台家盟成立大會，除了許多教育團體出席，教育部長潘文忠和多名立委現身相挺。謝國清會後受訪表示，台家盟未來會加強監督政府，並積極遊說國會，目標就是把十二年國教往前推。
謝國清說，「考試綁學生」的現狀一定要破除，包括國中升高中職的國中教育會考，現在被用作升學依據，影響國中3年的學習，未來應慢慢破除。
在高中升大學階段，謝國清說，目前有人主張把學測往後延，避免太長的空窗期。他則認為，學校應創造多元學習環境，激發學習興趣，而非用考試綁住學生，逼人乖乖唸書。
在十二年國教課綱上，謝國清認為，必修學分應減少，課程不要排那麼多，更為鬆綁一些，才有多元的可能。
台家盟許多成員來自全國家長團體聯盟（全家盟），包括謝國清本人，也曾擔任全家盟理事長。謝國清不諱言，和全家盟有些方向差異，例如全家盟力促教師評鑑，和教師團體對立，台家盟則主張親師合作。
但在十二年國教的訴求上，全家盟和台家盟仍較一致，而與台灣其他家長團體有區隔。謝國清說，未來仍有和全家盟合作的可能。1050909
